Stouffville Spirit forward Joseph Deveny (photo credit:  Brian Watts/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the SUNY Canton Kangaroos beginning with the 2015-16 season.

The hometown Stouffville, Ontario native has played the past three seasons with the Spirit, joining the club in 2012-13 as an 18-year old after playing the previous season at South Kent Prep School in South Kent, Connecticut.  Each year, Deveny has set career offensive bests, including this season with 17 goals and 31 points in just 36 games played thus far.

"We are thrilled at Canton to receive Joe’s commitment to join our program," said Kangaroos head coach Trevor Gilligan.  "Joe’s attributes on the ice will be keyto the foundation we are laying at Canton.  More importantly, Joe as aperson will thrive in our Hockey Community.  Joe has been a part of a first class organization, and we’re excited to be influential in his further developments as a young man.

Spirit head coach Jeff Perrin added, "Joe Deveny is a skilled forward that will put points on theboard.  Great team guy that keeps the team loose.  Joe is easy to coach and will be a great asset for your team.

Congratulations to Joseph and best of luck the rest of his junior career.
