NCAA INFORMATION

The NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse is an organization that works with the NCAA to determine a student's eligibility for athletics participation in his or her first year of college enrollment.  Students who want to participate in college sports during their first year of enrollment in college MUST register with the Clearinghouse.

16 CORE COURSE REQUIREMENTS

4 => Years of English

3 => Years of Mathematics (Algebra 1 or higher)

2 => Years of Natural/Physical Science (1 year of lab if offered by High School)

1 => Year of additional English, Mathematics or Natural/Physical Science

2 => Years of Social Science

4 => Years of additional courses (from any area above, Foreign language or Non-Doctrinal Religion/Philosophy

IMPORTANT NOTES

=> Only select University Level Courses are recognized.

=> College Level courses are not recognized.

=> Grades are evaluated from Grade 9 forward. 

=> Scale rating 4.0 (Highest)

=> 2.0 is approximately 60%

=> 3.0 is approximately 72%

• Mandatory Standardized test
• 3.20 hour exam
• Test of Mathematics skills
• Test of Verbal skills
• Test of Creative Writing skills
• 2400 total marks
• 1800 Ivy League minimum

What is the NCAA Amateurism Certification Process?

• The NCAA is concerned and is monitoring amateurism issues related to both international and domestic prospective and transfer student-athletes (prospects).
• Prospective and transfer student-athletes and teams will be required to complete an online questionnaire about their athletics history. (contracts, salaries and other issues)
• Based on the information provided by the prospective or transfer student-athletes, a certification decision will be rendered:

* If the responses to the questionnaire do not reflect amateurism issues, a certification decision will be automatically generated.              

*If the responses to the questionnaire reflect potential amateurism issues, the NCAA amateurism staff will review the cases and issue a certification decision.

Who will be certified?

• All domestic and international prospective student-athletes and transfer student-athletes entering for the first time a Division I or II institution on or after August 1, 2007

*The amateurism certification process operates through online registration (same Website as NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse)
