OJHL Featured Player
October 21, 2010, Markham, Ontario - After spending the previous four seasons as a member of the Durham/Whitby Fury, Behn Robertson (photo credit - Craig Campbell/HHOF) returned to his hometown this season, joining the Markham Waxers, and he has not disappointed, taking the early league scoring lead to earn OJHL Player-of-the-Month honours for September.
The 6’3”, 200 lbs., left-shooting Robertson was born in Markham on February 5, 1990 and entered the OJHL (then OPJHL) as a 16-year old as a member of the newly formed Durham Fury. Over the next four seasons, Robertson was consistently one of the Fury’s top scorers and would spend parts of two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and Barrie Colts.
Over the summer, Robertson’s hometown Markham Waxers acquired his services and the 20-year old immediately paid dividends for his new club, recording 11 points in his first three games and 24 points in 10 games during the month of September to earn the award. The Waxers’ alternate captain would be held off the scoresheet just twice during the month, while notching five points in a game twice during victories over Collingwood. Robertson’s impressive totals not only gave him the OJHL scoring lead and Player-of-the-Month honours, but helped the Waxers become the first OJHL team to be ranked number one in the country by the CJHL, a position they would hold for two consecutive weeks.
Behn Robertson continues to lead the OJHL in scoring through mid-October with 40 points in 18 games played, while the Waxers have remained in 1st place overall. Congratulations Behn on the monthly honour!
