Newmarket downs Oakville, 6-3

Jacob Piltzmaker registered one point to lead the Newmarket Hurricanes to a 6-3 victory over the Oakville Blades.
In the losing effort, Oakville was paced by Ryan Garvey, who finished with two goals. Garvey scored the first of his two goals short handed at 5:34 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Newmarket. The Blades found themselves down a man on Max Lindsay's head contact. Garvey's next tally short handed made the score 3-3 with 13:12 left in the third period.
Newmarket put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Oakville to score on any of its three power plays. The Hurricanes kept the Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brendan McGlynn made 31 saves on 37 shots. Newmarket's goal total was higher than its season average. The Hurricanes have scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of Newmarket were also effective in Oakville's zone, and came away with two goals.
Newmarket also got points from Ryan Shaw, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Jonathan Colley, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Newmarket included Nick Boddy, Sam Hu, and Joseph Mizzi, who scored one goal each. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Curtis Harvey, who had three and Jordan Oshowy, Cameron Nicoll, Taylor Joseph, Mackenzie OMahony, and Brett Thomson, who each chipped in one.
The Blades were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time. Oakville had been averaging 17.0 minutes in penalties per game.
Oakville also got a goal from Josh Kosack as well. More assists for Oakville came via Daniel Jelic and Sean Kohler, who contributed one each.
Connor Ryckman recorded 27 saves for the Hurricanes. Newmarket incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Team's Ryan Markovic and Lindsay were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
