N-W CONFERENCE ALL-STARS ANNOUNCED
The Ontario Junior Hockey League today announced the North-West Conference First and Second All-Star Teams.
North-West 1st Team All-Stars

F – Phil Brewer (Burlington Cougars)

Goaltender – Jimmy Sarjeant (Newmarket Hurricanes)
The league-leading Newmarket Hurricanes were back-stopped by netminder Jimmy Sarjeant. After missing almost two full months due to injury early in the season, the native of Aurora, Ontario led the Hurricanes to a regular season title with a record of 16-4-1. Sarjeant, who recently accepted a full scholarship to attend Mercyhurst College, led all goalies with a .937 save percentage and five shutouts, while finishing second among all goalies with a 1.97 goals against average.
Defence – Luke Juha (Burlington Cougars)
Seventeen-year old defenceman Luke Juha started the year by earning a berth on Team Canada East, winning a silver medal at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge, and would then return to help lead the Burlington Cougars to a West Division title. The native of Mississauga, Ontario has committed to play for Clarkson University in 2011-12 and finished second among all OJHL defencemen with both 39 assists and 49 points, while tying for the lead among all players with four shorthanded assists and all rearguards with three game-winning goals.
Defence – Tyler Shiplo (Georgetown Raiders)
Defenceman Tyler Shiplo was one of the few constants on the Georgetown Raiders blueline throughout the season. Shiplo would lead all Raiders d-men and finish seventh among all OJHL defencemen with 40 points. The Oakville, Ontario native started the season with a six-game point scoring streak and never looked back, also finishing tied for sixth in assists by a defenceman with 33 and tied for third in power play assists by a defenceman with 17.
Forward – Phil Brewer (Burlington Cougars)
The league’s most dangerous scorer this season proved to be Burlington Cougars captain Phil Brewer, who captured the OJHL scoring title, recording 109 points in 48 games played. Along with the scoring title, Brewer would lead all players with 70 assists, 27 power play assists and he tied for the lead with eight game-winning goals. The native of Cambridge, Ontario would also tie for sixth among all players with 39 goals, helping the Cougars clinch first place in the West Division.
Forward – Zach Hyman (Hamilton Red Wings)
Another member of the silver medal winning Team Canada East at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge, Hamilton Red Wings captain Zach Hyman would finish second in OJHL scoring, recording 102 points in only 43 games played. The 5th round pick of the NHL’s Florida Panthers, who will play next season at prestigious Princeton University, also finished tied for second with 60 assists and third in goal scoring with 42 goals; all accomplished while recording only 24 penalty minutes.
Forward – Matt Neal (Stouffville Spirit)
The OJHL January Player-of-the-Month, Matt Neal of the Stouffville Spirit went on a scoring tear during the final month-and-a-half of the season to hit the 100 point milestone and finish fourth overall in league scoring. The Barrie, Ontario native finished strongly on the strength of 60 assists, tied for second best in the league and 40 goals, fifth best in the league. Also finishing with a second-best total of 25 power play assists, Neal recently accepted a full four-year scholarship to attend RPI, beginning in 2011.
2nd Team All-Stars
Oakville Blades netminder Daniel Savelli is a native of Burlington, Ontario. He finished sixth among all OJHL netminders with a 2.59 goals against average.
Stouffville Spirit defenceman Tyler Ferry is a native of Richmond Hill, Ontario. He finished tied for fifth among all OJHL defencemen with 41 points.
Buffalo Junior Sabres defenceman Matt Krug is a native of Buffalo, New York. He finished fourth among all OJHL defencemen with 44 points.
Georgetown Raiders forward Justin Basso is a native of Mississauga, Ontario. He finished second among all OJHL goal scorers with 43 goals.
Burlington Cougars forward Patrick Marsh is a native of Oakville, Ontario. He finished fourth among all OJHL goal scorers with 41 goals.
Brampton Capitals forward James Woodcroft is a native of Milton, Ontario. He captured the OJHL goal scoring title with 52 goals.
