S-E CONFERENCE ALL-STARS ANNOUNCED

The Ontario Junior Hockey League today announced the South-East Conference First and Second All-Star Teams.


South-East 1st Team All-Stars
G – Jordan Ruby (Wellington Dukes)
D – Anthony Mastrodicasa (Vaughan Vipers)
D – David McMullen (Kingston Voyageurs)
F – Colt Kennedy (Kingston Voyageurs)
F – Sean Rudy (Wellington Dukes)
F – Blake Sexton (Cobourg Cougars)

South-East 2nd Team All-Stars
G – Ryan Demelo (North York Rangers)
D – Corey O’Brien (Peterborough Stars)
D – Mike Wills (Lindsay Muskies)
F – Mason Baptista (Villanova Knights)
F – Daniel Ciampini (St. Michael’s Buzzers)
F – Matt Lorito (Villanova Knights)


Goaltender – Jordan Ruby (Wellington Dukes)
The Eastern Conference champion Wellington Dukes were back-stopped by netminder Jordan Ruby. After being named the All-Star Goaltender at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge, leading Team Canada East to a silver medal, Ruby would return home and be named the OJHL December Player-of-the-Month. The native of Tavistock, Ontario finished second among all goalies with 26 wins for a record of 26-5-4, while finishing third best with his .932 save percentage and three shutouts and fourth best with a 2.21 goals against average. Recently Ruby accepted a scholarship and will attend RIT in the fall.

Defence – Anthony Mastrodicasa (Vaughan Vipers)
Playing for his hometown club, the Vaughan Vipers, Anthony Mastrodicasa’s career season helped the Vipers capture the South Division title. The high-scoring defenceman led all rearguards with 17 goals and 53 points, while finishing third with 36 assists. Finishing third in overall scoring on the Vipers, Mastrodicasa also led all OJHL blueliners with four shorthanded goals and 12 power play goals, tied for fourth overall in the league.

Defence – David McMullen (Kingston Voyageurs)
Kingston Voyageurs captain David McMullen had his career-best season during his third year in the OJHL. Playing in his hometown, McMullen would finish third in scoring among all defencemen with 47 points, while leading all scorers from the blueline with 43 assists, including 22 assists on the power play, the third best total among all league scorers. The club’s leader played all key situations for the Voyageurs, helping them finish as the East Division runner-up.

Forward – Colt Kennedy (Kingston Voyageurs)
Blending a combination of talent and toughness, forward Colt Kennedy is one of the Kingston Voyageurs inspirational leaders. The native of Ajax, Ontario led the Vees with both 30 goals and 70 points, while also playing a hard-nosed game and leading the club with 106 penalty minutes. The power forward’s offensive total also rank in the top 25 overall among OJHL players.

Forward – Sean Rudy (Wellington Dukes)
Second year Wellington Dukes forward Sean Rudy led the club in both assists with 51, also the ninth best total in the entire league, and scoring with 73 points, 17th overall in the league. The native of Long Sault, Ontario was also a mainstay on the power play, leading the club with 19 power play assists, helping the Dukes capture the South-East Conference regular season title.

Forward – Blake Sexton (Cobourg Cougars)
Playing his first season as a member of the Cobourg Cougars, Blake Sexton led the club in virtually all major statistical categories en route to the Cougars earning a playoff berth. Sexton’s totals include 32 goals, 44 assists and 76 points, ranking him in the top 15 overall within each category. A native of Oshawa, Ontario, he also led his team with seven game-winning goals, tied for third in the OJHL, and 20 power play assists, tied for fourth overall in the league.


2nd Team All-Stars
North York Rangers goaltender Ryan Demelo is a native of Brampton, Ontario. He finished fifth among all OJHL netminders with a .919 save percentage while playing the second most minutes in the league, 2,592:59.

Peterborough Stars defenceman Corey O’Brien is a native of Peterborough, Ontario. He finished second among all OJHL defencemen with 18 power play assists.

Lindsay Muskies defenceman Mike Wills is a native of Woodville, Ontario. He finished tied for third among all OJHL defencemen with 17 power play assists.

Villanova Knights forward Mason Baptista is a native of North York, Ontario. He finished tied for fourth among all OJHL scorers with 59 assists.

St. Michael’s Buzzers forward Daniel Ciampini is a native of Concord, Ontario. He would lead all OJHL penalty killers with nine shorthanded goals scored.

Villanova Knights forward Matt Lorito is a native of Oakville, Ontario. He would tie for fourth among all OJHL scorers with 20 power play assists.


The Ontario Junior Hockey League’s North-West Conference First and Second All-Prospect Teams will be announced tomorrow, Friday, February 18, 2011.
