N-W CONFERENCE ALL-PROSPECTS ANNOUNCED
The Ontario Junior Hockey League today announced the North-West Conference First and Second All-Prospect Teams.
North-West 1st Team All-Prospect
G – Matthew Wintjes (Newmarket Hurricanes)
D – Luke Juha (Burlington Cougars)
D – Brennan Serville (Stouffville Spirit)
F – Drake Caggiula (Stouffville Spirit)
F – Jeff DiNallo (Newmarket Hurricanes)
F – Evan Rodrigues (Georgetown Raiders)
North-West 2nd Team All-Prospect
G – Michael Nishi (Georgetown Raiders)
D – Ori Abramson (Brampton Capitals)
D – Trevor Carrick (Stouffville Spirit)
F – Daniel Leavens (Newmarket Hurricanes)
F – Patrick Megannety (Georgetown Raiders)
F – Mitch Nardi (Burlington Cougars)
Goaltender – Matthew Wintjes (Newmarket Hurricanes)
Teaming with the OJHL’s North-West 1st Team All-Star, Matthew Wintjes and Jimmy Sarjeant proved to be the most reliable netminding pair in the league throughout 2010-11. Wintjes would take over the starting role while Sarjeant was injured and earn OJHL November Player-of-the-Month honours for his efforts. The native of Holland Landing, Ontario, finished with a 24-3-2 record, the sixth best win total in the league, and two shutouts. His goals against average of 2.32 was the fifth best on record, while his .916 save percentage ranked him sixth.
Defence – Luke Juha (Burlington Cougars)
Talented up-and-coming defenceman Luke Juha is the only player to receive recognition as both an All-Star, being named to the North-West Conference 1st All-Star Team, and as an All-Prospect. The seventeen-year old’s award-filled season includes winning a silver medal as a member of Team Canada East at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge, participating in the CJHL Prospects Game and leading the Burlington Cougars to a West Division title, while also committing to play at Clarkson University beginning in 2011-12.
Defence – Brennan Serville (Stouffville Spirit)
Second year defenceman Brennan Serville would be a teammate of fellow 1st Team All-Prospect, Luke Juha, at both the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge, winning a silver medal, and the CJHL Prospects Game. Despite a slow start to the season due to injury, the native of Pickering, Ontario would return to record 30 points from the back-end in only 36 games played. Serville’s totals included 27 assists, tied for the 15th best total among all OJHL defencemen and he will play next season with the powerhouse University of Michigan Wolverines.
Forward – Drake Caggiula (Stouffville Spirit)
Rookie Stouffville Spirit forward Drake Caggiula made quite an impression during his first season in the OJHL, recording 48 points in 45 games played, on the strength of 22 goals and 23 assists. The point total placed the Pickering, Ontario native fifth on the Spirit’s overall scoring list and even more impressive was the 16-year olds prowess on the power play, scoring 10 power play goals, second-best on his club and 12th best in the entire OJHL.
Forward – Jeff DiNallo (Newmarket Hurricanes)

Newmarket Hurricanes rookie forward Jeff DiNallo was a consistent force for the OJHL regular season champions, recording 28 goals and 28 assists for 56 points to finish second on the powerhouse in both goals and points. A native of Aurora, Ontario, his goal total also ranked him in the top 30 for the entire league, while also contributing to the Hurricanes success as an integral part of both the power play and penalty kill.
Forward – Evan Rodrigues (Georgetown Raiders)
The third member of the 1st All-Prospect Team to play for the silver medal winning Team Canada East at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge, Georgetown Raiders forward Evan Rodrigues was one of their best players, earning an All-Star Team position. Also playing in the CJHL Prospects Game, Rodrigues recorded 21 goals and 33 assists for 54 points on the season, finishing fifth on the Raiders in scoring, and he has committed to play at Boston University next season.
2nd Team All-Stars
Georgetown Raiders goaltender Michael Nishi is a native of Toronto, Ontario. He finished in the top 15 among all OJHL netminders with 18 victories.
Brampton Capitals defenceman Ori Abramson is a native of Toronto, Ontario. He finished second on the Capitals in scoring among defencemen with 24 points.
Stouffville Spirit defenceman Trevor Carrick is a native of Stouffville, Ontario. He finished third on the Spirit in goal scoring among defencemen with six goals.
Newmarket Hurricanes forward Daniel Leavens is a native of Thornhill, Ontario. He finished tied for 13th among all OJHL players with five game-winning goals.
Georgetown Raiders forward Patrick Megannety is a native of Oakville, Ontario. He finished tied for second on the Raiders in game-winning goals with four.
Burlington Cougars forward Mitch Nardi is a native of Hamilton, Ontario. He would finish eighth on the Cougars in goal scoring with 16 goals.
