Oakville boosted by Mannella's play in net, beats Cobourg 4-1

The Oakville Blades relied on the sparkling performance of Daniel Mannella in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Cobourg Cougars.

Oakville was paced by Ross Sloan, who had one goal and one assist. Sloan scored 12:53 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Oakville. Kyle Potts picked up the assist.

The Blades excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Oakville also had goals scored by Greg Campbell, Matt Lippa, and Ryan Garvey, who each put in one. More assists for Oakville came via Max Lindsay, who had two and Ryan Burns, Matthew McLeod, and Josh Kosack, who contributed one each.

Cobourg's offense operated below its season average. The Cougars put an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game.

Cobourg was led by Joe Seney, who scored the team's only goal. Seney scored 2:35 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Oakville. Riley Stillman assisted on the tally.

Mannella recorded 28 saves for Oakville. The Blades incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Cougars' Tyler Lewis stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Cobourg incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
