2015 OJHL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES DATES ANNOUNCED
The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) today announced the schedule for the 2015 OJHL Championship Series, in competition for the Ontario Hockey Association’s (OHA) Frank L. Buckland Trophy, more commonly referred to as, “The Buckland Cup.”
The 2015 OJHL Championship Series will see the South-West Conference champion and defending OJHL champion Toronto Patriots face the North-East Conference champion Kingston Voyageurs. The Patriots will have home-ice advantage in the series after winning the South Division regular season title and by virtue of finishing three points ahead of the Voyageurs in the overall standings.
The Toronto Patriots captured a second consecutive South Division crown in 2014-15 after winning both the OJHL Championship and Dudley-Hewitt Cup in 2014-15, as well as competing at the RBC Cup, National Junior ‘A’ Championship that was held in Vernon, B.C. They captured a second straight South-West Conference Championship by defeating the Toronto Jr. Canadiens in six games, having previously defeated St. Michael’s in four games and Oakville in five games.
Kingston returns to the OJHL Championship Series for the first time since winning the league title for the first time in franchise history in 2008-09 (competed in OJAHL Championship in 2009-10 split season, losing to Oakville). After defeating Stouffville in four games, the Voyageurs first upset the #3 nationally ranked and OJHL regular season champion Aurora Tigers in seven games, before then upsetting the regular season runner-up and East Division champion Trenton Golden Hawks in six games.
The Toronto Patriots play all home games at Westwood Arena in Toronto, while the Kingston Voyageurs play all home games at the Invista Centre in Kingston.
