OJHL YOUNG STARS ON NHL WATCH LIST
Five young OJHL up-and-coming stars have been named to NHL Central Scouting preliminary "Watch List" for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. All five have been ranked as 'C' skaters and you can count on scouts following them throughout the remainder of the season. Ranked OJHL players include:
James De Haas (D)
Toronto Lakeshore Patriots
De Haas is a 6’3”, 200 lbs. native of Mississauga, Ontario. The 17-year old rookie rearguard has impressed early this season, leading all Patriots defencemen in scoring with eight points. His success has earned an invite to Team Canada East’s final camp this weekend, where he hopes to earn at spot to play in the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge. De Haas has committed to Clarkson University.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens
Entering his third full season in the OJHL, the 5’11”, 188 lbs. native of Toronto, Ontario leads the Junior Canadiens in scoring with 21 points in only 12 games played thus far, also ranking among the league leaders. After splitting last season between the Jr. Canadiens and the Georgetown Raiders, Friedmann earned himself an invitation to Team Canada East Camp and will be competing for a spot on the final roster. Friedmann has committed to Robert Morris University and will join the NCAA Division I squad beginning next season.
Patrick McCarron (D)
St. Michael’s Buzzers
At 6’3”, 185 lbs., Patrick McCarron has been an imposing presence on the Buzzers blueline for two seasons. Currently sitting second among all St. Mike’s rearguards in scoring with 13 points in 15 games played, the 17-year old native of Etobicoke, Ontario has also earned an invitation to Team Canada East’s final camp, where he will vie for one of the defensive spots to help the team go for gold at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge. McCarron has committed to Cornell University and will join the prestigious school in the fall of 2012.
Andrew Poturalski (F)
Buffalo Jr. Sabres
Entering his rookie season in the OJHL, the 17-year old native of Amherst, New York, has been an instant sensation, sitting at or near the top of the scoring charts since the season began. Poturalski has been part of the Jr. Sabres resurgence as a powerhouse in the West Division and with 14 points in seven September games, he was the runner-up as the OJHL’s North-West Conference Player-of-the-Month. He currently leads the Sabres and sits tied for fourth in league scoring with 27 points, as well as third in the OJHL with 17 assists. Poturalski has committed to New Hampshire and will join the Wildcats, beginning in the fall of 2013.
Devin Shore (F)
Whitby Fury
Another 17-year old rookie sensation in the OJHL this season is Devin Shore of the Whitby Fury. The 6’, 186 lbs. native of Ajax, Ontario has immediately set the league on fire, leading his club in scoring with 20 points in 14 games played thus far. Shore’s immediate impact earned an invite to the Team Canada East preliminary camp and now he will attend the final camp this weekend, hoping to secure a spot for the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge.
