MANNARA COMMITS TO LSSU
Oakville Blades defenceman Michael Mannara (photo credit - Kevin Sousa/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Lake Superior State University Lakers beginning with the 2018-19 WCHA season.
The Caledon, Ontario native joined the Blades this past season as a 16-year old rookie blueliner. Previously he was member of the Vaughan Kings Bantam 'AAA' organization, followed by the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Minor Midget 'AAA' squad in 2014-15, and he was selected by the Guelph Storm in the 14th round, 274th overall, of the 2015 OHL Priority Selection. Mannara also got his first taste of OJHL action in 2014-15, playing a single game for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens as an affiliate and recording his first junior point, an assist.
This past year with the Blades saw the steady rookie rearguard play 45 regular season games, while adding 6 points, including his first OJHL goal, to help Oakville finish in first place in the South Division standings. With Mannara's confidence soaring entering the post-season, he notched 5 points in 10 games to finish third in scoring among defenceman on the club, before the Blades were knocked out in the second round by Burlington.
Congratulations to Michael on achieving NCAA Division I success and best of luck throughout the remainder of his junior career!
