NORTH YORK'S FANTAUZZI COMMITS TO ALASKA-ANCHORAGE
Dante Fantauzzi of the North York Rangers (photo credit – Amy Deroche / OJHL Images) has committed to join the NCAA D1 University of Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves beginning with the 2019-2020 season.
“We are very excited for Dante and his commitment to Alaska-Anchorage,” said North York Head Coach Geoff Schomogyi. “Dante was off to a great start for us this season, before getting injured. Dante brings great vision and hockey sense to our back end. He has really taken the next step for us in NYR this year and we are extremely proud and excited for Dante!”
The native of Woodbridge joined the Rangers full-time last season, after playing 14 games as an affiliate from the Toronto Marlboros midgets in 2016-17.
The 6-foot-1 defenceman has 11 points in 18 games this year, eclipsing the 10 he had last season in 44 games.
Fauntazzi was a fifth-round pick of the Oshawa Generals in the 2016 Ontario Hockey League draft, from the Marlboro minor midgets.
Congratulations to Dante and best of luck in the OJHL and the NCAA!
The OJHL, the largest Jr. A hockey league in Canada, had more than 135 commitments in 2017-18, including 65 NCAA Division I scholarships.
