Jett Alexander of the North York Rangers is the all-time shutout king of the Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Alexander blanked the St. Michael’s Buzzers 5-0 Friday night for his ninth shutout of the 2018-19 season. Alexander stopped all 25 shots directed his way at storied St. Mike’s Arena in Toronto.

Two-time OJHL goalie of the year Charlie Finn of the Kingston Voyageurs set the previous record of eight in the 2012-13 season. The records date back to the 1972-73 Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League season

In spite of a starry junior hockey resume, the 19-year-old Alexander does not have an NCAA or U Sports commitment.

He was named the Kewl OJHL Goaltender of the Month for October

The 6-foot-5, 215-pound native of Bloomfield, in Prince Edward County, went 12-1-0 during October posting a 1.07 goals-against with a .966 save percentage. Alexander, who turns 19 Nov. 8, had six shutouts.

This season, he leads the OJHL in wins (27 in 37 games played), GAA (1.68) save percentage (.944) – and of course shutouts.

Alexander played minor hockey with the Rangers and Don Mills Flyers organizations in the GTHL. He was just 5-foot-8 when he was drafted by the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League in 2015. Alexander helped the midget Rangers win the Telus Cup national championship in 2016.

Alexander joined the Rangers from the Georgetown Raiders during the 2016-17 season.

In 2017-18, he had a record of 15-9-0, a .929 save percentage and a 2.09 GAA. Also last season, he played for his country at the World Junior A Challenge, represented the OJHL at the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge and played in the CJHL Top Prospect Game in Mississauga.

Last spring, he was named the Ontario Hockey Association’s top prospect goaltending award during a ceremony at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Rangers, who have clinched a playoff berth, have 10 games remaining on their regular-season schedule.

They play the Toronto Jr. Canadiens in the OJHL on CHCH Game of the Week Jan. 26 at 3 p.m.
