NATIONAL JUNIOR TEAM MEMBERS PLAYED AS AP'S IN OJHL
Canada’s National Junior Team at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ostrava, Czech Republic includes five players who skated as affiliate players in the Ontario Junior Hockey League.
Forwards Akil Thomas and Connor McMichael and defenceman Jamie Drysdale played for the St. Michael’s Buzzers.
Quinton Byfield played for the Newmarket Hurricanes (now Milton Menace) and Ty Dellandrea for the Whitby Fury.
Canada had a come-from-behind 6-4 victory over the United States in the opening game for both Thursday at the tournament. Dellandrea scored for Canada.
Canada gets back to action Saturday when it takes on Russia (1 p.m. ET).
Canada plays Germany Monday and the host Czechs on New Year’s Eve.
Playoffs begin Jan. 2.
