VERNACE COMMITS TO LAKE SUPERIOR
Trenton Golden Hawks forward Daniel Vernace (photo credit: Tim Meeks/Trenton Golden Hawks) has confirmed his commitment to join the Lake Superior State University Lakers beginning with the 2012-13 CCHA season.
The 6', 180 lbs. native of Toronto, joined the Golden Hawks as a trade deadline acquisition after spending two and a half seasons as a member of the Mississauga Chargers. Vernace first played in the OJHL as a 17-year old affiliate with the Villanova Knights, joining the squad for a single game during the 2008-09 season. The following year he made the full-time jump to junior hockey with the Chargers. The skilled forward would post 114 points during his stint in Mississauga, finishing second on the club in scoring last year, while leading the team with 46 points in 38 games played before the trade to Trenton this year. His play earned him a spot on the OJHL South Division All-Stars that competed at the inaugural Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge that was held in Smiths Falls, Ontario. He would ultimately finish last season as the Golden Hawks leading scorer, notching 30 goals and 61 points on the season.
Congratulations to Daniel and best of luck as he takes his game to the NCAA Division I level!
