OJHL GRAD TURNED ACTOR WYATT RUSSELL BACK IN NET FOR NHL SKILLS CHALLENGE

A former Ontario Junior Hockey League player will be on centre stage during NHL All-Star weekend in Las Vegas.
Wyatt Russell, who played goal for the Brampton Capitals in the OJHL from 2005-07, will don the pads for the adidas NHL Breakaway Challenge™ during the skills challenge this Friday, Feb, 4. Manon Rhéaume, the first woman to ever play in an NHL game, will also take part in the challenge.
Russell, the son of Hollywood A-listers Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, retired from hockey in 2010 following a season of pro at Groningen in the Netherlands. He spent two years at NCAA Division I Alabama Huntsville after graduating from the OJHL.
As an actor, Russell is best known for his portrayal of Corporal Lewis Ford in the horror film Overlord, Dud in AMC's Lodge 49 and John Walker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Now 35, he first skated at age 3 in Toronto when his dad took him to a local rink. Mom was shooting a movie in Ontario.
Wyatt played minor hockey in Southern California before making the jump to Canada to play at the junior level.
The 2022 NHL All-Star Skills™ presented by DraftKings Sportsbook will include seven events that will showcase hockey’s top talent on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT (ESPN, Sportsnet, TVA Sports) at the home of the Vegas Golden Knights, T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nev.
