VALLORANI NAMED ECHL ALL-ROOKIE

Former Militon Icehawks forward David Vallorani (photo courtesy of the Reading Royals/ECHL), now with the Reading Royals, was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team for his performance throughout the 2012-13 season.

The native of Hamilton, Ontario played two full seasons in the OJHL as a member of the Milton Icehawks from 2006-08.  As a 17-year old rookie, Vallorani tasted instant success, leading the Icehawks in scoring with 24 goals and 65 points, while adding another seven points in five post-season contests.  His played earned a spot with the West Division Stars, recording an assist during a 4-2 loss to the South at the 2007 Future Stars Game played in Georgetown, Ontario.  The talented forward was even better in year two, once again leading Milton while also finishing fourth in the OPJHL scoring race with 87 points in 49 regular season games played.  He once again received an All-Star invitation, this time moving up to the big game where he recorded another assist, this time on the game-winning goal, for the North-West Conference All-Stars during a 4-3 victory over the South-East at the 2008 OPJHL All-Star Game held in Vaughan, Ontario.  During his OJHL career, Vallorani would accept a scholarship and spend four seasons with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell Riverhawks before turning pro.

The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward David Vallorani has been named to the 2012-13 ECHL All-Rookie Team. 

Vallorani, who is celebrating his twenty-fourth birthday today, is second amongst first year pros in the league with fifty-eight points (17g-41a) in sixty-six games with the Royals. His forty-one assists leads all first year pros in the league. Fifteen of his forty-one helpers have come on the power play, which places him second amongst rookies in the ECHL in that category. With two more regular season games to go, Vallorani, who hails from Hamilton, Ontario, has played to a plus-18 (+18), which is second best amongst active players on the Royals’ roster. The UMass-Lowell alum, who has sixteen multi-point games this year, is the second Royal in the twelve year history of the team to receive a post-season league award, joining defenseman T.J. Kemp who was selected to the 2005-06 All-Rookie Team.

D – Sacha Guimond, Gwinnett Gladiators (57 gp, 12g, 35a, 47 pts., -4)
F – Mario Lamoureux, Ontario Reign (69 gp, 25g, 38a, 63 pts., +30)
F – David Pacan, Cincinnati Cyclones (57 gp, 14g, 38a, 52 pts., +10)
F – David Vallorani, Reading Royals (66 gp, 17g, 41a, 58 pts., +18)

The Royals return home for the final two games of the regular season starting tomorrow (Thursday, March 28 @ 7:05 pm) against the Trenton Titans at the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA. That night, which is Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest Music Education Night, the first 5000 fans will get a team poster courtesy of Reading Eagle, which fans can get signed in a post-game autograph session. The game day broadcast on Thursday will kick off on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm at 6:35 pm with the Pre-Game Warm-Up Show presented by Steve Moyer Subaru.

Royals Kelly Cup Playoff tickets are now on sale.
